Though in years past, the idea of Freedom 55, that is, retiring at the age of 55 to pursue a life of leisure, has been a primary goal for many people in the work force, the Baby Boomers seem to eager to let this concept go! While it is certainly true that some Boomers do need to continue you work for financial reasons, it is also correct that a vast majority of Baby Boomers will be continuing in the work place because they want to. If you are like other Boomers, you'll find that it is something that gives you a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment that even a long and idle stretch of vacation can't beat.

The fact that so many Baby Boomers want to stay in the job market is something of a blessing for people. Experts are aware that the work world is facing a labour shortage with the amount of Boomers who have hit retirement age, and the fact that not all of them feel like doing so is something that has helped out many companies. If you are staying in your job, you should be aware of how valuable you are to your company. See what training or perks you can get to make your continuing time in the service worthwhile to you!

Many Baby Boomers resist the urge to slow down, which is what retirement may imply. They feel that they will become stagnant and lose touch with the world if they retire, and because of this, they are unwilling to take that first step.
