The Nutritional Secret PDF Print E-mail

Baby Boomers grew up in a era that predated the introduction chemical food additives and a great many number of preservatives that are common today, and many of us are realizing exactly what that means! From the nutrition that we can get from the food to the taste of the food itself, many Baby Boomers are realizing that there is a great deal to be desired when it comes to their food and we are becoming increasingly concerned by the preservatives and additives that are now a matter of course.

The twenty-first century has become a time of mass-produced meals, meals that are prepared on the go and then consumed on the run; food is a convenience rather than a pleasure, and this is a veiwpoint that has led people to giving it a low priority. In turn, this has promoted the appeal of mircowaveable meals, fast food and delivery options and the end result is a human being who is eating a great deal more preservatives and additives than they ever have before. With obesity and diabetes both on the rise, it is clear that there needs to be a reevaluation of the way that we we eat and of what is available.

Many of us have realized that though there is a lot of talk about how fattening food was when we were young, that it doesn't seem to have done us harm. The bowls of mashed potatoes and steamed carrots were actually quite healthy, even if there was more butter on them than would be preferred, but the truth is, a steady diet of natural, chemical free foods might be instrumental when it comes living a longer, healthier life.

The important thing to keep in mind is that the chemicals that are used to process and preserve food can introduce toxins to your body in much the same way that alcohol and smoking can. You'll also find that some of the these toxins will break down healthy cells until they become free radicals that can damage your body and lead to the early onset of problems like cataracts, arthritis and heart disease. Note that some chemical substitutes will also remove essential nutrients from your diet and that many practices like freezing and other preservative techniques will also keep your nutrient intake way down.

If you are a Baby Boomer who is concerned about the way your body works and is worried about how to stay young and keep fit, take a look at what you are eating. What are you really putting in your body, can make an enormous difference in how both your body and your mind functions, so make sure that you take the time to make sure that your food is of the highest quality that you can get!
