Just Take A Walk PDF Print E-mail

It seems that everyone is trying to be more healthy, and all of the information about being healthy can be confusing and frustrating. However, there is something simple that you can do so that you can live a longer and healthier life. That something simple is just walking. Walking can lead to a longer, healthier life, and can strengthen every part of your body.

Add Years

If you walk for 30 minutes a day, which is considered a moderate physical activity, you are going to lengthen your life by roughly 1.3 years. You will also be able to live about 1.1 years longer without diseases. The longer life – and the longer health, are both attributed to simply getting up and walking for 30 minutes a day. It isn't even that big of a time commitment – walking 30 minutes a day for 12 years equals 49 days of walking, all done to win yourself an extra 1.3 years. It's a great tradeoff – especially considering the other positive effects of walking.

Burn Fat, Improve Your Mood, Improve your Health

Lots of people like to focus on one good aspect of exercise, and try to see how doing something like walking can benefit them in one way. However, walking benefits you in much more than one way. Walking helps you to burn fat, which helps you to lose weight. Walking also gets you out of the house and doing something different – which improves your mood. Improving your mood and gaining exercise is a great way to improve your overall health. Feeling better throughout all of your days is a great trade off for walking for 30 minutes a day.

Improve Your Body's Functions

Walking has also been shown to improve a lot about the way that your body works. For instance, by walking you can raise the levels of HDL, which is the good cholesterol. This will help you keep weight down. Walking also might prevent cancers, because it has a great effect on the immune system and the way that your hormone levels work. Also, walking is a great way for you to remain regular, which also reduces the risk of things like colon cancer and other sicknesses. Don't forget that exercise like walking – even if you aren't moving fast or feeling the burn – is good for your heart. You are going to be at much less risk for a hearth attack simply by getting out there and doing some walking.

Getting out and walking might seem like it’s a pain – however, simply by doing it for a half hour a day, you can improve all areas of your life and live longer as well.
